J.Cummor, an English publisher, is sure that the American poet Jeffrey Aspern left some unpublished papers. He proposes to an expert on the life and works of the American poet to locate the whereabouts of this unknown work. The publisher is certain that the papers are in the hands of Juliana Bordereau, an eccentric old lady who lives secluded in her mansion with her niece, Tina.
